  • Street parking full, chill dude standing in the middle of the road
  • "The neighbor who thinks the street parking belongs to them"

i moved into my current place about 8 months ago. it's a normal residential street with street parking. no assigned spots, no permits, nothing like that. people just park wherever there's space. my house doesn't have a driveway
  • so i usually park along the curb directly in front of it. never had any issues the first few weeks. then one morning i walked out and saw a folded piece of paper tucked under my windshield wiper. it said
  • something like please don't park here, this spot is taken. i honestly thought someone left it on the wrong car because... it's a public street. nobody owns the curb. i ignored it.
  • Man driving car, hands on the steering wheel.
  • a couple days later i parked there again and the next morning there was another note. this time it said i've parked here for 12 years, find somewhere else. at that point i realized it had to be someone on the street who genuinely believed
  • the spot belonged to them. things got weirder after that. sometimes when i came home from work there would be two orange cones placed in that exact spot like someone was reserving it. one
  • night the cones were there but no car, so i moved them onto the sidewalk and parked anyway. the next morning my car had another note, this one a lot angrier.
  • Cones on the side of the road holding a parking spot.
  • a few days ago i was pulling into the spot again when a guy from the house across the street came outside and started waving his arms. he told me that was his parking spot and he's been using it for over a decade. i told
  • him it's a public street and i live here too. he kept insisting everyone on the street knows it's his space. i asked the
  • neighbor next door later and apparently he's been doing this for years and just scares people into not parking there. i'm still parking there.
